EXPLANATORY NOTE

This note is not part of the warrant, but is intended to indicate the general effect.

The Royal Warrant establishes "The New Zealand Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal".

Traditionally the long service and good conduct of soldiers of the Regular Force of the New Zealand Army has been recognised by the award of the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (Military).

The new medal (which is of the design traditionally awarded to soldiers of the New Zealand Army is specific to New Zealand and is to be awarded to soldiers of the Regular Force of the New Zealand Army.

The conditions for the award of the new medal are similar to those for the award of the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (Military).
