Army Commander's Award for Public Service
1 Description:
Medal: A bronze disc 1 3/8 inches (3.49 cm) in height and 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in width bearing an equilateral triangle which symbolizes civilians.Displayed on the triangle is the eagle from the Great Seal of the United States, which symbolizes Federal Service. The reverse of the medal is inscribed "DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY COMMANDER'S AWARD FOR PUBLIC SERVICE."

Ribbon: The medal is suspended from a ribbon 1 3/8 inches in width consisting of the following stripes: 1/16" White, 1/8" Myrtle Green, 5/16" White, 1/32" Myrtle Green, 5/16" White, 1/32" Myrtle Green, 5/16" White,1/8" Myrtle Green, 1/16" White.

2 Eligibility and Criteria:
aThis award may be approved by the following individuals:
i  Any commander (Colonel and above).
ii Commanders exercising courts-martial authority.
iiiPrincipal officials of Headquarters Department of the Army staff agencies.
ivOfficials of General Officer or SES rank.
bThe medal may be awarded to:
i  Civilians not employed by the Army or Army contractors.
ii Federal Government officials at the policy development level.
iiiTechnical personnel who serve the Army in an advisory capacity or as consultants.
cThis award is given to recognize service or achievements that contribute significantly to the accomplishment of the mission of an Army activity, command or staff agency.

3 Background:
The medal was proposed by The Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel in November 1982 and approved by the Assistant Secretary of the Army on 14 June 1983. It ranks directly below the Outstanding Civilian Service Award. This award consists of a bronze medal, lapel button and certificate. A service ribbon and miniature size medal are also available.
